J. Hord Armstrong, III - Chairman of the Board

With over 40 years of financial and operational experience in varied industries, Mr. Armstrong began his business career with the Morgan Guaranty Trust Company and was elected Assistant Treasurer in 1967. He then spent 10 years with White Weld & Company as First Vice President until the firm was acquired by Merrill Lynch in 1978. At that time, Mr. Armstrong joined Arch Mineral Corporation, St. Louis, as Treasurer (1978-1981), ultimately becoming Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (1981-1987). Mr. Armstrong left Arch Mineral in December, 1987, coincident with his founding of D&K Healthcare Resources, Inc. Under his direction, D&K became a public corporation in September, 1992. D&K was acquired by McKesson Corporation on August 30, 2005. In November 2005 Mr. Armstrong became Majority Partner in Armstrong-Wilson, LLC. Mr. Armstrong graduated from the Taft School in 1959, from Williams College in 1963, and attended New York University Business School during 1965-1966. He also served in the United States Army Reserves from 1963-1969. Mr. Armstrong served for 10 years as a member of the Board of Trustees of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, as well as a Director of Jones Pharma Incorporated. He was formerly Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Pilot Fund, a registered investment company. He was also formerly a Director of BHA, Inc. of Kansas City, MO. He currently serves as Advisory Director of US Bancorp, a Director of GeoMet, Inc., and Chairman and CEO of Armstrong Land, LLC.


Martin D. Wilson - President

Mr. Wilson’s extensive financial experience and knowledge began in 1985 with KPMG Peat Marwick. It was here as Supervising Senior Accountant that he specialized in manufacturing and wholesale distribution and gained valuable experience in mergers and acquisitions. As the first manager hired subsequent to the inception of D&K Healthcare Resources, Inc. in 1987, Mr. Wilson’s high-energy approach proved successful in the acceleration of D&K’ profitability. His leadership as President and COO helped D&K achieve an impressive sales record from $89 million in 1989 to $4 billion when it was acquired by McKesson a larger competitor at an 80% premium to market value. Mr. Wilson was actively involved in operations from divisional management, financial planning, raising capital, purchasing, and business development to information systems until the acquisition of D&K by McKesson Corporation in August of 2005. Along with J. Hord Armstrong, III, former Chairman and CEO of D&K, they formed Armstrong-Wilson LLC and were instrumental in financing and forming the coal reserves and coal operating entities. Mr. Wilson graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy in June 1985. Mr. Wilson is currently serving on the Board of Trustees of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and is on the Board of Armstrong Land, LLC, the coal holding company. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of Healthcare Distribution Management Association (HDMA).


David R. Cobb, P.E - Vice President of Corporate Development

Mr. Cobb began his career over 40 years ago at AMAX Coal Company serving as a Resident Mine Engineer, Administrative Engineer, and Southern Division Engineer. In 1975, he joined Danco Engineering, a mine consulting firm located in Western Kentucky, serving as a Principal Engineer and later becoming its owner and President. Danco was acquired by Associated Engineers, Inc. in 2005 and Mr. Cobb served as its Director of Mining Services until joining Armstrong in 2006. His duties and responsibilities have included business management, project management, and consulting engineering involving civil, mining, environmental, and forensic practice fields. Mr. Cobb has provided mining engineering services for hundreds of coal mine development and operating properties throughout Kentucky and in Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama, Wyoming, and other coal producing states, along with Columbia and Venezuela in South America. Mr. Cobb received a Bachelor of Science in the Mining Option of Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky. He is registered in the fields of Civil and Mining Engineering and is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois along with being a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. Mr. Cobb is a long standing member of the Society of Mining Engineers, the National and Kentucky Societies of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Surface Mining and Reclamation, and the National Association of Fire Investigators.


Kenneth E. Allen - Vice President of Operations

Mr. Allen has over 40 years experience in the coal industry. While attending school he worked in an electrical repair shop that serviced coal mining. He began his career with Peabody Coal Company in 1967 as an electrician. In 1971 he moved into a supervisory position and continued to hold various supervisory and management positions, i.e.; General Foreman, Chief Electrician, Chief Electrical Engineer, Mine Superintendent, General manager, Operations Manager, Vice President Resource Development and Conservancy. Prior to joining Armstrong in 2007 Mr. Allen held the position of President and Operations Manager of Bluegrass Coal Company. Mr. Allen attended classes at Madisonville Community College, the University of Evansville, the University of North Carolina, and Darden. Mr. Allen has been and continues to be involved in numerous civic and community organizations. He is currently Chairman of the Upper Pond River Conservancy District, Chairman of Cedar West Inc., and member of the Madisonville Community College Energy Advisory Committee. He is a past member of the Kentucky Coal Counsel, the Kentucky Governors Finance Committee, and Kentucky Consortium for Energy and the Environment. He is past Chairman and current member of the Executive Boards of the Kentucky Coal Association and the Western Kentucky Coal Association. Mr. Allen and his wife Teresa reside in Hopkins County Kentucky.


Jill L. Albitar, CPA - Vice President & Controller

Ms. Albitar’s financial experience began in 1984 as an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand, now PriceWaterhouse Coopers. During her 5 years, she was consistently promoted ahead of schedule and performed numerous special projects to increase the profitability, efficiency and management practices of both her clients and local firm. After leaving public accounting and obtaining an MBA, Ms. Albitar spent 2 years in an executive training program for a major insurance company. In 1993, she began her career in the energy industry by managing, as a consultant, the reorganization and technological enhancement of a troubled accounting department of BP Oil. In 1995, Ms. Albitar joined a small merchant refiner named Clark Refining that eventually evolved into a fortune 250 company named Premcor Refining. During her 10 years at the company, Ms. Albitar performed many management roles that assisted in increasing the accuracy, efficiency and use of technology in accounting and operations, as well as, to perform operational roles for troubled areas. Her last project was to lead the company to a clean opinion in its first year of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. In 2005, Ms. Albitar joined Silgan Plastics Corporation as the Director of Compliance where she reduced Sarbanes Oxley compliance efforts by two-thirds. Ms. Albitar graduated summa cum laude from both the University of Akron in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and The University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business in 1991 with Master’s of Business Administration. Ms. Albitar is a fully licensed CPA in the State of Ohio and a member of the Missouri Society of CPAs.
