J. Richard Gist
Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Gist has over 30 years of financial experience with over 20 years associated with coal. He began his career with Arthur Andersen in 1978 where he supervised the audit of Peabody Coal for several years. He then went on to hold financial, marketing, M&A, and contract administration positions at St. Joe Minerals (owned at the time 50% of Massey), NERCO (PRB and Illinois Basin coal operator), Ziegler Coal (Illinois Basin and Central Appalachian producer), and Peabody Energy. From 2000 until its purchase by McKesson, Mr. Gist was the Vice President and Controller of D&K Healthcare Resources. Most recently, he served as Vice President - Marketing Administration at Arch Coal where he negotiated and restructured supply agreements with both domestic and foreign customers. He has extensive SEC experience having been involved in IPOs and large secondary offerings as well as directing the financial reporting function for various companies. Mr. Gist graduated from the University of Illinois - Champaign in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and is a Certified Public Accountant.
