About Us
Armstrong Coal was formed in 2006 to acquire and develop coal reserves in Western Kentucky. Having acquired in excess of 39,000 acres and 450 million tons of coal, including seven coal seams, Armstrong’s mission is to become a reliable and low cost supplier of custom blend coals (A-Coal) to electricity generating utility companies. With seven existing and two proposed electrical generation power plants being located within a 50 mile radius of the Armstrong coal reserves, and with direct access to low cost river and rail transportation options, Armstrong has the capability to provide low cost custom blend coal to fuel virtually any electric power generation plant located in the Midwest and Southeast Region of the nation. Due to the utility industries commitment to install additional coal fired electric generation plant emission scrubbers to comply with future environmental emission standards; Armstrong is well positioned in the marketplace to benefit from a strong future demand for low cost utility coal. Utilizing current technology, combined with an experienced management staff, Armstrong is developing plans to begin coal production from both surface and underground mining operations in 2008. Armstrong not only has a goal of being one of the lowest cost and reliable coal producers in the region, but also a goal of being fully committed to the health and safety of its workforce and to become an industry leader in achieving award winning compliance with reclamation and environmental standards.
